Bailey injured herself a couple of weeks ago while "climbing the rope" during conditioning. She lost her grip and slid down aboout 20 feet resulting in 3rd degree burns to a couple of her fingers. Due to the injury, her practice time was limted, especially on Bars where a lot of pressure is put on your hands. So she went into this meet having not even practiced Bars for over a week, so she wasn't sure what to expect.
The meet was full of great talent, and was probably the deepest field of the season. Bailey started on Beam with a 9.3, ultimately good for 5th place on the apparatus. She followed with a 9.625 on the Floor Exercise which was good enough for 4th place. The Vault judges seemed a bit harsh but it's a subjective sport and Bailey scored a season low 8.925. She stood up both passes and in the end she did not place on the apparatus. Luckily her last rotation was Bars, as the warm up and routine broke open her fingers again. She fought through and even without any practice for over a week scored a 9.2, good enough for 8th place. Bailey's All Around score was 37.1 placing her 6th.
Bailey's next meet is the Rose City Classic in Tyler, TX on March 14th.
